Duration: 3 months with potential to extend contract

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialty that consists mainly of courses in the following areas:

– personal and community development;

– social life.

Other Requirements:

• Experience planning and conducting age-appropriate activities with children and youth related to intrapersonal development, community involvement  and social consciousness
• Experience working individually or with groups of students at elementary and secondary
• Experience developing, planning and executing school-based projects related to community service, environmental issues, and intercultural activities
• Knowledge of or experience related to healthy schools, violence prevention, sexuality education
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team setting with educators and other professionals
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to communicate fluently in English and French
• Ability to travel to off-island and on-island schools

Nature of the work

Personal development and community animators nurture students' social and emotional development while promoting a sense of civic responsibility.  We plan and facilitate activities that allow students to explore challenges, share ideas, and take thoughtful risks that foster personal growth.  By modeling these skills ourselves and integrating them into activities, we help students build confidence and develop a lifelong commitment to learning and collaboration.  Working alongside staff and community partners, we create environments where students build healthy relationships, develop personal responsibility, and find meaningful ways to contribute positively to their school community.

Daily Tasks/Dossiers

• Initiating, planning and managing student activities that support the school’s educational project re: positive school climate, student development, student and staff well-being and community engagement
• Planning animating and supporting assemblies, celebrations, days of observance and days of reflection in accordance with the school’s needs, traditions, and Board initiatives with EDDI being a primary focus.
• Completing necessary forms and paperwork for grant applications, principal approval, Governing Board approval and school council approval
• Supporting the review of the schools ABAV plan, being a member of the ABAV committee and supporting the OUR School Survey
