Vocational Training Teacher

Program: School Daycare Educator

Temporary Part Tine (average 10 hours/week)

Pontiac Continuing Education Centre (Virtual)

Key Responsibilities:

work together with the personnel of the school in order to take the appropriate measures to meet the individual needs of students;

organize and supervise student activities;

provide support and remediation;

supervise students in their presence;

evaluate the performance and progress of students for whom the employee is responsible and to report on them to the school administration according to the system in effect;

monitor the late arrivals and absences of the employee’s students and to report them to the school administration according to the system in effect;

participate in meetings relating to the employee’s work;

perform other duties usually assigned to teaching personnel;

choose the appropriate method to prepare and present the employee’s courses within the guidelines of the authorized programs;

take the necessary measures to enable the employee to attain and maintain a high level of professional competency in keeping with the Education Act;

provide learning and developmental activities to students and shall participate in the development of student life in the school.

Qualification Requirements:

Hold a recognized diploma in Early Childhood Education or a skills training certificate as a School Daycare Educator.

Experience in a School Daycare setting is necessary.

Teaching experience is considered an asset.

Online teaching experience is considered an asset.

Teaching will be online, two evenings per week and odd Saturdays.

The Act respecting the laicity of the State (hereinafter the Act) has created an obligation for certain public organizations, including school boards, to ensure that religious symbols are not worn by specific employees while exercising their functions. The Act specifies that it is incumbent upon the Director General to take the necessary measures to ensure compliance with this new obligation.

The purpose of this Directive is to present the main obligations stemming from the Act and to guide

management personnel in the implementation of any required measure, while respecting, as much as

possible, the values of inclusion, integrity and respect as espoused by the Western Québec School Board.

Prohibition regarding the wearing of religious symbols

Principals, vice principals, centre directors, assistant centre directors, and teachers are prohibited from wearing religious symbols in the exercise of their functions.
