NATURE OF THE WORK
The position of academic and vocational information counsellor encompasses, in particular, responsibility for providing information, advice, assistance and guidance to students in the youth and adult sectors on programs of study, course selection and labour market to help them become familiar with academic and career paths so as to make informed choices.
CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS
The academic and vocational information counsellor participates in developing and implementing an academic and vocational information service that meets the academic and administrative requirements of both the educational institutions and the school board.

MORE SPECIFICALLY, THE PERSON
Meets individually with students to offer them support and accompaniment related to their needs, their issues and their career choice questions;
Welcomes the student, analyzes his needs and carries out individual interventions respecting his field of competence and the framework of Bill 21;
Refers the student to services aimed at their well-being and success;
Uses tools and resources that promote self-knowledge, exploration of options, decision-making and validation of professional choice;
Develops, analyzes, validates, uses and transmits information on the world of education, professions and the labour market;
Supports the process surrounding university, college and professional applications;
Meet students in groups and make face-to-face or virtual presentations to answer questions related to academic and professional information;
Develops activities in collaboration with cegep and external members.Supports activities related to job search: individual meetings, facilitation of classroom workshops, organization of job fairs, updating of resources and documentation, correction of CVs and cover letters, mock interviews, validation of job search methods;
Could initiate and carry out the Operation of the Recovery
Participates in the development and operation of the educational and vocational information service;
Writes annual reports;
If necessary, performs any other related tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialty, notably:
Academic and vocational counselling; guidance counselling, career guidance or career development. Relevant teaching experience in the Quebec school system would be an asset
Special Requirements
The person must be bilingual (French and English). (Spoken and written);
Work experience relevant to the duties set out in the job description;
Very good communication, interpersonal, Collaboration and teamwork skills in a work environment with students and faculty;
Very good customer service skills;
Knowledge of Benchmarks software and websites
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Teams, Forms, Booking);
Knowledge of the college environment and CLARA software are assets
