Position Description
The Lester B. Pearson School Board is looking to grow our pool of on-call replacement Handicap Attendants for the next academic year (2023-2024). This position is the first step to more permanent opportunities within our organization.

Qualifications:
Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies in Assistance in Health Care Facilities or a Secondary School Diploma or a diploma or an attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority, and have one (1) year of pertinent experience in those areas requiring self-discipline, general concepts in psychology and human relations skills.
AND
Hold a certificate dated no more than three (3) years attesting to the successful completion of:
1. a standard first aid course of a minimum eight (8) -hour duration;
2. a refresher course of a minimum six (6)-hour duration updating the skills acquired in the course mentioned in subparagraph 1
Nature of the work:
The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in assisting handicapped students in participating in activities related to their schooling during daycare hours (before & after school & lunch hour). They assist a student in moving from one location to another, ensures their well-being, hygiene and safety according to the instructions received in keeping with the individualized education plan.
Schedule:
Before and after school as well as the lunch hour.

Exigences:
Être titulaire d’un diplôme d’études professionnelles en assistance à la personne en établissement de santé ou un diplôme de 5e année du secondaire ou être titulaire d’un diplôme ou d’une attestation d’études dont l’équivalence est reconnue par l’autorité compétente, et avoir une (1) année d’expérience pertinente ayant permis d’acquérir une discipline personnelle, des notions générales de psychologie et des aptitudes sur le plan des relations humaines.
ET
Être titulaire d’un document datant d’au plus trois (3) ans, attestant la réussite :
1. soit d’un cours de secourisme général d’une durée minimale de huit (8) heures;
2. soit d’un cours d’appoint d’une durée minimale de six (6) heures visant la mise à jour des connaissances acquises dans le cadre du cours mentionné au paragraphe précédent.
Nature du travail:
Le rôle principal et habituel de la personne salariée de cette classe d’emplois consiste à aider l’élève handicapé dans sa participation aux activités reliées à sa scolarisation. Elle assiste l’élève dans ses déplacements, voit à son bien-être, à son hygiène et à sa sécurité conformément aux instructions reçues dans le cadre d’un plan d’intervention.
Horaire:
Avant l’école, à l’heure du déjeuner et/ou après l’école.
