Superintendent – Continuing Education
Position Description

Nature of the work
Reporting to the Centre Director, the chosen candidate will be responsible for the management of the programs related to continuing education, in particular, the position of Superintendent of Continuing Education entails responsibility for the management of the technical, administrative and manual activities required for the operation of one or more vocational centres of the school board programs of the School Board.
The position includes, in particular, the performance of management duties pertaining to the activities required, for the execution of work, plans/specifications, budget estimates, calls for tenders, contract follow-up, evaluating changing material and equipment needs of the centre's vocational programs, following up with suppliers, protection of movables and immovables, energy management and use of premises, space and equipment, promotion of voactional programs and centre activities in the local community, administering social media accounts in collaboration with centre administration.
The position consists, in providing within the incumbent's field of competence, advice and expertise to the Administrators of the School Board, so as to promote the optimal management of the centre. The priority will be given to candidates having a strong knowledge of continuing education and vocational programs.
Qualifications
The chosen candidate will have:

A diploma of college studies in a relevant field of study and six (6) years of relevant experience

Prior relevant experience in a management role is considered an asset

Effective communication skills in English and French (written and verbal).

Ability to work and learn autonomously.

Ability to multitask efficiently while coordinating with multiple departments.

Ability to analyze logistical problems in their assigned domains, synthetize the problem, recommend and communicate a solution to their administrator.

Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).

Experience with Jade Tosca, Mozaïk, and other in-house tools are an asset.

Experience in the vocational sector, with proficient knowledge of professional programs for all students, including international students is an asset.
General responsibilities
-
Participate, upon request, in the consultative process for developing the objectives and strategies of the Centre, particularly in the incumbent's sector of activity and, where applicable, collaborate with other staff members to determine the annual action plan.

Participate in the developing and updating of policies, systems, standards and procedures related to his or her sector of activity and ensure their application.

Contribute to budget preparation, monitor expenditures, and ensure financial resources are effectively allocated and used responsibly. Including but not limited to purchasing supplies for the Automobile Mechanic, General Building Maintenance, and Health programs, and the acquisition of technology equipment for the Residential and Commercial Drafting, and Business programs.

Assist in the developing and implementing strategic goals and initiatives to align with the Centre's educational project.

Develop and implement all means to ensure the quality and safety of buildings in collaboration with the regional directors and building administrators.

Supervise the drawing-up of plans and specifications as well as budget estimates.

Collaborate with other staff members in drafting, negotiating and follow-up of service contracts.

Supervise, upon request, the execution of work and monitor the budget.

Assume the responsibilities assigned to him or her with regards to the protection of movables and immovables of the Centre.

Ensure compliance with the regulations applicable to his or her milieu.

Participate in defining rules and procedures concerning purchases, supplies and inventory control for vocational programs under their responsibility.

Participate in developing policies dealing with the conversion and use of premises, space and equipment adapted to the needs to the institutions and administrative units.

Assist, if necessary, the administrators of the institutions and administrative units of the School Board.

Support, as required, the administrators of the School Board by providing them with pertinent information.

Assess the training needs of the staff under his or her responsibility.

Ensure the availability, functioning and proper use of equipment and material necessary for the functioning of the Centre's vocational programs.

Participate in developing and updating information resources.

Ensure in his or her sector of activity, the review and rationalization of administrative practices.

Represent, upon request, the School Board or the administrative unit in matters related to his or her sector of activity.

Assume any other responsibility compatible with his or her function that may be assigned to him or her by the immediate superior.

Participate as an active member of the availability list for after hour emergencies.
